Zernio vs Publer: Which Is Better in 2026?

Affiliate disclosure: the link to Zernio is an affiliate link — we may earn a commission if you buy, at no cost to you. The link to Publer is a plain link: we earn nothing from it. Neither changes this comparison, which is based on editorial research.

Publer is a social media scheduler that sells its REST API and MCP server as part of the Business plan; Zernio is an API with no plans, billed per connected account. Both price by connected social account, so the comparison is unusually direct. Ten accounts cost $63.00 a month on Publer Business on monthly billing, or $50.40 a month billed yearly, and $48 a month at Zernio, which has no annual billing.

The key difference: Zernio gives you an API that is free for 2 connected accounts and documents comment and DM replies, ads and webhooks, none of which Publer's API docs cover; Publer gives you a full scheduling app with an API attached to its Business plan, and a free plan without one.

Pricing model Usage-based, paid by card (the rate card says Card, monthly), with no seats, no plan tiers and no annual billing. The self-serve option, Build, charges per connected account per month on a graduated ladder: accounts 1 to 2 free, 3 to 10 at $6, 11 to 100 at $3 and 101 and up at $1, with no cap; each band prices only the accounts inside it, and billing is prorated by account-day. Outbound inbox messages beyond 10,000 a month, managed ads beyond 500, X API calls (at X’s rates), phone numbers, calls, SMS, RCS, iMessage and payout transfers are metered on top. Enterprise is custom-priced and available past 2,000 accounts, with postpaid invoicing on net-30/60 terms, and the Enterprise page says most enterprise contracts include volume-based discounts on the public ladder. Each ad account and each WhatsApp number counts as a connected account on the same ladder (the pricing docs: “A Page, its Instagram account and the Meta ad account behind them are 3”). Zernio’s own pages conflict on two points. The pricing FAQ says usage is “billed at the end of each billing period”, while the billing docs say “Zernio charges your card as you accrue usage, not once at the end of the month”, first at a threshold that starts at $10 and then doubles. The pricing page says “Every feature included, nothing gated behind a plan”, while API reference entries for ads still say “Requires the Ads add-on”. Subscription priced by the number of connected social accounts plus any additional members, billed monthly or yearly. Each page or profile counts as one social account (Publer’s example: 2 Facebook pages and 2 Instagram accounts count as 4), the plan owner is included in the price, and for every 9 paid social accounts, or 9 additional members, the 10th is free. The plans page shows totals from a calculator and states no rate per account. Yearly billing is labelled 2 months free, but the page’s FAQ says paying yearly earns a 20% discount, and the yearly prices it shows are 20% below the monthly ones. Charities and non-profit organizations get 50% off if they send supporting documents before subscribing, and Enterprise adds higher volume discounts, unquantified. The REST API and MCP server come only with Business and Enterprise. VAT is not included. You pay by PayPal or a major credit or debit card, handled by PayPro Global or Paddle depending on your location, and the page’s FAQ says paying yearly also allows a purchase order or wire transfer. Each payment can be refunded in full within 14 days; after that, the FAQ says, “you’re still eligible for a refund, but a pro-rated refund and the discount for paying yearly will be waived”.

Our rating: the median of five independent editorial scores per tool, each taken from a uniform fact sheet of our review, on the same criteria and rules for the eight Social Media & Messaging APIs. It weighs value and pricing transparency, free ways to try the API (a trial or free plan earns that credit only if it includes the API), what works today (usable networks only), developer and agent tooling, trust (independent ratings, security evidence, company age and size where the review states them, and incidents on the vendor’s own status page, weighed by hours and severity) and consistency of the vendor’s own pages, where each self-contradiction counts once, at the same weight for every vendor. Publer was scored on its whole product, as a scheduler with an API, against our Social Media Management ratings, so its Free and Professional plans, which do not include the API, count toward its score. Affiliate status is not an input. How we score

Zernio
4.3

Social media API and MCP server for posting, DMs, analytics and ads from code, priced per connected account with the first 2 free

WHY PICK IT
  • Free tier for 2 connected accounts with the full API, analytics and no credit card, and no seats or plan tiers to choose between
  • Published graduated price per connected account per month ($6, then $3, then $1, no cap), with the proration formula and worked examples in the docs
  • One request shape publishes to 10 social networks plus WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord and Slack (Reddit and Snapchat are listed too, but their docs pages say Reddit is temporarily unavailable and Snapchat is not available yet), and the same API covers DMs, comments, reviews, analytics, 9 ad networks and blog articles
Publer
4.2

Social media scheduler for 13 networks with a free plan, priced by connected social account, whose REST API and MCP server come only with Business and Enterprise

WHY PICK IT
  • A lasting free plan, not a trial: 3 social accounts, up to 10 waiting scheduled posts per account and no credit card
  • Low entry price: Professional is $4.00 a month billed yearly ($5.00 monthly) for 1 social account, and every 10th account is free
  • Publishes to 13 networks, including Google Business Profiles, WordPress, Telegram, Mastodon, Threads and Bluesky

The verdict

Choose Zernio if the integration is the product and nobody needs a scheduling app. Ten posting accounts cost $48 a month and the first 2 are free with the full API and no card. The API also covers comment and DM replies, an Ads API and messaging channels, but each ad account and WhatsApp number counts as another connected account, and numbers, SMS, sent messages above 10,000 a month and managed ads above 500 are billed on top. Mind its limits too: 25 posts an hour per account, 100 a day on Instagram and 50 on LinkedIn, and 600 API requests a minute (60 on the free tier). Zernio ships SDKs in 8 languages and signs its webhooks with HMAC-SHA256.

Choose Publer if people on your team schedule by hand in a calendar and a script or agent fills in the rest. Business adds the API, MCP, analytics insights and competitor analysis to the scheduler, and every 10th connected account is free. Mind the limits: 100 API requests per 2 minutes per user, 25 Instagram posts and 14 LinkedIn-profile posts per profile in a rolling 24 hours, which Publer says it can waive on paid plans, and no official SDK.

Bottom line: For a team that lives in a scheduling calendar, Publer Business adds the API to the app it already uses. For code-first products and agents, Zernio costs less for 10 posting accounts ($48 a month against $63.00 monthly or $50.40 billed yearly) and documents the webhooks and SDKs that Publer's docs do not.
