Affiliate disclosure: the link to Zernio is an affiliate link — we may earn a commission if you buy, at no cost to you. The link to Ayrshare is a plain link: we earn nothing from it. Neither changes this comparison, which is based on editorial research.

Ayrshare and Zernio name each other: Ayrshare's compare index lists 'Ayrshare vs Zernio', and Zernio's comparison hub puts Ayrshare first among social media APIs. Both offer posting, comments, DMs, analytics, ads and a hosted MCP server. The bill is where they split. Ayrshare charges per social profile, one brand or customer with accounts on any number of networks; Zernio charges per connected account. Five brands on Instagram and LinkedIn cost $299 a month on Ayrshare Launch and $48 at Zernio; one brand on 10 networks costs $149 a month on Ayrshare Premium and still $48 at Zernio, all on monthly billing.

The key difference: Zernio's per-account ladder is free for 2 accounts and costs $6 per account a month for accounts 3 to 10; Ayrshare's profile pricing starts at $149/mo billed monthly for one brand and needs Launch, $299/mo, for 2 to 10 brands.

Pricing model Usage-based, paid by card (the rate card says Card, monthly), with no seats, no plan tiers and no annual billing. The self-serve option, Build, charges per connected account per month on a graduated ladder: accounts 1 to 2 free, 3 to 10 at $6, 11 to 100 at $3 and 101 and up at $1, with no cap; each band prices only the accounts inside it, and billing is prorated by account-day. Outbound inbox messages beyond 10,000 a month, managed ads beyond 500, X API calls (at X’s rates), phone numbers, calls, SMS, RCS, iMessage and payout transfers are metered on top. Enterprise is custom-priced and available past 2,000 accounts, with postpaid invoicing on net-30/60 terms, and the Enterprise page says most enterprise contracts include volume-based discounts on the public ladder. Each ad account and each WhatsApp number counts as a connected account on the same ladder (the pricing docs: “A Page, its Instagram account and the Meta ad account behind them are 3”). Zernio’s own pages conflict on two points. The pricing FAQ says usage is “billed at the end of each billing period”, while the billing docs say “Zernio charges your card as you accrue usage, not once at the end of the month”, first at a threshold that starts at $10 and then doubles. The pricing page says “Every feature included, nothing gated behind a plan”, while API reference entries for ads still say “Requires the Ads add-on”. Billed per social profile: one customer, brand or location, connected to any number of social networks, counts once. Ayrshare charges nothing per seat or per network, and its pricing FAQ says nothing per API call or per post, although its GraphQL limits page counts API calls against “your plan’s quota”, which no page we read quantifies, and its help center sets a monthly post quota per profile whose amount the pricing page does not show. Premium covers 1 profile for a single user, Launch up to 10 profiles and Business 30 profiles included, then a per-profile monthly rate that, on the rate card under the pricing calculator, falls in steps above 30, 100 and 500 profiles; Enterprise is custom from 300 profiles, and from 300 profiles the calculator recommends Enterprise and shows no price. Billing follows the peak number of active profiles in each monthly cycle, and deleting a profile through the API stops its billing. Premium, Launch and Business are billed monthly or annually, with annual prices shown as a monthly figure billed annually. The yearly toggle is labelled Save 17%, which works out at about 16.7% on Launch and Business but about 13.4% on Premium (our arithmetic). Two paid add-ons, Max Pack ($300 a month) and Ads (Facebook Boosted, $100 a month), are sold for Launch and Business and included with Enterprise. Messaging (DMs) is priced only in the Messages API docs: a flat $49 a month per account on Premium, and $0.09 per active conversation, metered through Stripe, on Launch and Business, with up to 1,000 active conversations per User Profile per billing cycle, though the same docs page says the Messaging API “is included with all Ayrshare Business Plans”. Ayrshare’s pages disagree on whether a free plan still exists; the 28-day free trial is on Launch only and needs a payment method.

Our rating: the median of five independent editorial scores per tool, each taken from a uniform fact sheet of our review, on the same criteria and rules for the eight Social Media & Messaging APIs. It weighs value and pricing transparency, free ways to try the API (a trial or free plan earns that credit only if it includes the API), what works today (usable networks only), developer and agent tooling, trust (independent ratings, security evidence, company age and size where the review states them, and incidents on the vendor’s own status page, weighed by hours and severity) and consistency of the vendor’s own pages, where each self-contradiction counts once, at the same weight for every vendor. Affiliate status is not an input. How we score

Zernio
4.3

Social media API and MCP server for posting, DMs, analytics and ads from code, priced per connected account with the first 2 free

WHY PICK IT
  • Free tier for 2 connected accounts with the full API, analytics and no credit card, and no seats or plan tiers to choose between
  • Published graduated price per connected account per month ($6, then $3, then $1, no cap), with the proration formula and worked examples in the docs
  • One request shape publishes to 10 social networks plus WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord and Slack (Reddit and Snapchat are listed too, but their docs pages say Reddit is temporarily unavailable and Snapchat is not available yet), and the same API covers DMs, comments, reviews, analytics, 9 ad networks and blog articles
Ayrshare
3.9

Social media API and hosted MCP server that publishes to 13 networks in one call, billed per social profile rather than per seat or per network

WHY PICK IT
  • Billed per social profile: one customer, brand or location counts once however many networks it connects, with no charge per seat or per network
  • One POST /post request publishes to any of 13 networks, and it counts as one post toward the quota however many networks it targets
  • More than publishing: a History API, analytics on 11 networks, comments on 9, DMs on Facebook Messenger, Instagram Direct and X (charged separately, per the Messages API docs), webhooks and an Ads API (a paid add-on)

The verdict

Choose Zernio if you are starting small or adding accounts one at a time: the first 2 are free with no card and 10 cost $48 a month, on monthly billing. Priced for the same larger setup, 100 brands on Instagram and LinkedIn are 200 connected accounts at Zernio, $418 a month (our arithmetic from its rate card), against 100 profiles at Ayrshare, $1,228 a month on its own calculator. Its Ads API covers 9 ad networks, with each ad account counted as a connected account and managed ads above 500 billed at $0.01 each a month, where Ayrshare's Ads API needs its Ads add-on, $100 a month, which its pricing page names Ads (Facebook Boosted).

Choose Ayrshare if your product serves many brands, each posting to many networks, and you want profile-based and annual billing. Business is $599/mo billed monthly ($499 billed annually) for 30 profiles, then $8.99 per profile a month ($7.99 billed annually) from the 31st, and its own calculator puts 100 profiles at $1,228 a month. Its pages disagree on whether a free plan still exists; expect a 28-day trial on Launch only with a payment method, your own X developer credentials for X, DMs priced in its Messages API docs at $49 a month per account on Premium or $0.09 per active conversation on Launch and Business, though the same docs page says the Messaging API 'is included with all Ayrshare Business Plans', and a per-profile monthly post quota whose size the pricing page does not show.

Bottom line: On monthly billing Zernio is the cheaper bill for posting in every setup priced here, and the only one of the two whose pages agree it has a free tier; ad accounts, WhatsApp numbers and its message, phone and ads meters add to that bill. Ayrshare earns its price when each customer posts to many networks at once and you want annual billing, or the 99.9% API SLA that comes with an Enterprise contract.
