How these numbers are verified

  1. We open Hootsuite's own pricing page, hootsuite.com/plans, and record prices, plan names and the free plan as written, with the date.
  2. A vendor's correction or a reader's report changes nothing until an editor has checked it.
  3. Scores and rankings are editorial: vendors cannot buy them or correct them.
  4. After 30 days without a new reading, this page stops calling the facts verified (the page is rebuilt daily).

Editor's verdict

updated

“Hootsuite is a broad social media suite: one calendar for nine networks, an inbox covering eight channels, listening, analytics, ads and Wisdom AI, with a Trust Center that lists SOC 2 Type II and four ISO certifications. The catch is cost and gating. No free plan is listed, one Standard seat costs $1,188 a year on annual billing, monthly prices are not published, and post approvals start at Advanced, $4,788 per seat per year. Pinterest gets scheduling, boards and analytics but no inbox or ads tools, Pinterest listening is Enterprise-only, and the plan table keeps ROI reporting for Enterprise too. Trustpilot shows a 1.3 TrustScore from 556 reviews. Teams that will use the inbox, listening and reporting can justify the price; solo creators and small businesses should run the no-card 14-day trial against cheaper tools first.”

Best for

  • Marketing and social teams that want publishing, one inbox, listening and analytics in a single per-user subscription
  • Teams running more than 10 social accounts (Professional and up have no account cap)
  • Organisations that need post approvals, message routing, SSO or compliance integrations (Advanced and Enterprise)

Watch out for

  • No free plan listed, and the cheapest seat is $99 per user/month billed annually ($1,188 a year)
  • Post approval workflows and internal comments start at Advanced, $399 per user/month billed annually

What Hootsuite is

Hootsuite is a social media management suite. You connect your social accounts, then plan and publish posts, answer messages, follow conversations and report on results from one dashboard. Hootsuite now sells it as the Hootsuite Social OS in five parts: Perch for content planning and publishing, Nest for the social inbox and customer care, Lumen for insights and listening, Wisdom for AI, and Parliament for employee advocacy.

Its integrations FAQ lists Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, WhatsApp and Pinterest, and the network cards on the same page add Bluesky. The company started in 2008, has its headquarters in Vancouver and lists Ryan Holmes as CEO and founder. Its homepage says over 25 million users have used Hootsuite; the About page counts 200K+ users and 6K+ enterprise customers.

Pinterest and Instagram in Hootsuite

Pinterest is one supported network among many. Hootsuite says you can create, schedule and publish Pins to several accounts or boards at once, schedule to public, private and shared boards, create and customise boards (secret boards included) and see Pins in the same drag-and-drop calendar as your other posts. Its analytics page pitches Pinterest analytics as tracking the website visits and revenue your Pins generate, although the plan table keeps ROI reporting for Enterprise, and the best-times-to-publish charts in Analytics include Pinterest.

Hootsuite’s own feature lists leave Pinterest out in several places. The Nest inbox covers Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, Threads, TikTok, Google Business Profile and WhatsApp; the ads tools cover Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X; the Perch recommended-times row names Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, X and TikTok; and Pinterest as a listening source is an advanced data source included only on Enterprise. The Pinterest page also mentions approval workflows for Pins, which the plan table puts on Advanced and Enterprise.

Instagram gets more depth. Hootsuite auto-publishes feed posts, Reels and Stories, either directly or via a mobile notification depending on the content type and your account, and it needs an Instagram Business account. Carousels take up to 20 photos, and for Reels you record and edit the video in Instagram, save it to your device and upload it in Composer. Hootsuite says it is an official Instagram Partner. From Professional, a comment containing a keyword you choose can trigger an automatic DM. The analytics FAQ warns that Instagram updates its metrics every 48 hours and the latest data can take up to 64 hours to reach your dashboard, and Instagram, like Pinterest, is an Enterprise-only listening source.

Plans and what a small team pays

Hootsuite plan cards on the /plans page: Standard at $99 per user/month*, Professional at $199 per user/month* under a Most popular label, and Advanced at $399 per user/month*, each with a Free 14-day trial button, and Enterprise marked Custom with a Request a demo button, followed by each plan’s feature bullets, starting with Schedule unlimited social posts* on Standard
Screenshot of hootsuite.com/plans, taken .

There are four plans. Standard is $99, Professional $199 and Advanced $399 per user/month, billed annually, and Enterprise is custom. The footnote says prices are in US dollars, based on annual billing and exclude taxes. Plans are sold per user seat, and Standard is the only plan with an account cap, at 10 social accounts. No free plan is listed. Standard, Professional and Advanced each have a free 14-day trial with no credit card and no automatic charge when it ends, but trial accounts can post only 10 to 20 times a day per organisation, depending on plan, and cannot bulk schedule.

Monthly billing exists for Standard, Professional and Advanced, and Hootsuite says annual billing gives a lower per-user monthly rate. The plans page shows only annual-billing prices and has no monthly toggle, its trial links default to annual billing, and the sign-up page asks for an email before showing more, so there is no monthly figure here.

Worked from the annual prices, before tax: a solo creator or one-person business on Standard pays $99 × 12 = $1,188 a year. Three people on Standard pay $3,564 a year, or $7,164 on Professional. Post approvals start at Advanced, so a two-person team that wants approvals on Advanced pays 2 × $399 × 12 = $9,576 a year. Hootsuite’s plan FAQ also says some features are only available with multiple user seats, without naming them. Moving one seat from Standard to Advanced adds $300 a month, or $3,600 a year.

Hootsuite accepts Visa, Mastercard, Discover, JCB and PayPal, and can invoice annual Enterprise plans. It offers a discounted rate for nonprofits on some plans, by application.

Wisdom AI and analytics

Wisdom is the AI layer across the suite; Hootsuite says Yeti and OwlyGPT have evolved into it. It works with Lumen and Perch today, while Nest and Parliament are labelled Coming Soon. It drafts and recommends, and Hootsuite says people remain in control of reviewing, approving and publishing, so it does not post on its own. Every plan gets AI captions, caption enhancement and hashtag suggestions, and Standard, Professional and Advanced each include 100 AI credits a month. AI smart replies in the inbox and 90-day AI trend forecasting start at Professional. The Perch MCP connector lets you draft and schedule posts from Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and other assistants; the Lumen MCP connector is Enterprise-only.

Analytics covers Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube and Threads. Every plan gets report templates, post performance reports, side-by-side network reports, industry benchmarking and best-time charts, and competitor benchmarking runs to 5 competitors on Standard and 20 on Professional and Advanced. Custom reports, report notes, PDF and PPT export and scheduled reports start at Professional; branded reports, CSV and XLSX export, report sharing and reports to external email start at Advanced; ROI reporting for paid and organic posts is Enterprise-only.

Who it fits and who it does not

Hootsuite fits a marketing or social team that wants publishing, one inbox, listening, analytics and ads in one subscription and can pay per seat. Professional suits teams past 10 accounts or teams that want inbox automation and custom reports. Advanced suits teams where several people draft, approve and answer messages. Enterprise is for organisations that need SSO, compliance integrations, Salesforce, employee advocacy or 13 months of listening history.

It is a harder sell for a solo creator or a small business. No free plan is listed, the cheapest seat costs $1,188 a year on annual billing, and approvals need Advanced. If Pinterest is your main channel, weigh what Hootsuite leaves out for it: the inbox, the ads tools, the Perch recommended times and listening below Enterprise. Hootsuite’s FAQ also says it does not integrate with Outlook, Facebook Shops, Glassdoor or Feedly.

The drawbacks to weigh

Price transparency comes first. Only annual-billing prices are published, the monthly rate is higher by Hootsuite’s own account but unstated, and moving up from Standard to Advanced for approvals adds $300 per seat per month.

Customer sentiment is the second. On Trustpilot, read on 23 October 2026, Hootsuite has a TrustScore of 1.3, labelled Bad, from 556 reviews, with 69% at one star and 14% at five stars; 47 of those reviews were posted in the last 12 months. G2’s page did not load for us (it returned a verification wall), so no G2 score appears here. Hootsuite’s homepage calls it G2’s #1 best software product for 2026, which is the vendor’s own claim.

Hootsuite’s pages also disagree in places. The analytics FAQ names only Advanced and Enterprise for unlimited accounts while the plan table gives them to Professional too; the Standard page says you engage across Facebook, Instagram, X and LinkedIn while the same page lists eight inbox channels; AI writing appears as Wisdom in the plan table but as OwlyWriter AI on the Pinterest and Enterprise pages; and the plan table lists X ads analytics on every plan, while the analytics FAQ says X paid-ad analytics needs Advanced Analytics, an Enterprise add-on. The plan comparison table on /plans is the page to check before you buy.

Frequently asked questions

Does Hootsuite have a free plan?

No free plan is listed. The plans page offers Standard, Professional, Advanced and Enterprise, and the first three come with a free 14-day trial. The trial needs no credit card and you are not charged automatically when it ends. Trial accounts can post 10 to 20 times a day per organisation, depending on plan, and cannot use bulk scheduling.

How much does Hootsuite cost?

Standard is $99, Professional $199 and Advanced $399 per user per month, billed annually; Enterprise is custom. Prices are in US dollars and exclude taxes. On annual billing that is $1,188 a year for one Standard seat, $7,164 for three Professional seats and $9,576 for two Advanced seats.

Can I pay for Hootsuite monthly?

Yes. Hootsuite says Standard, Professional and Advanced can be billed monthly or annually, and that annual billing gives a lower per-user monthly rate. The plans page shows only the annual-billing prices and has no monthly toggle, so OfficeBooks cannot state the monthly price.

Does Hootsuite work with Pinterest?

Yes, for publishing and analytics. Hootsuite says you can schedule and publish Pins to several accounts or boards at once, including public, private and shared boards, create secret boards, see Pins in the shared calendar and track website visits and revenue from your Pins (the plan table keeps ROI reporting for Enterprise). Pinterest is not in its inbox or ads lists, and Pinterest listening is an Enterprise-only data source.

Can Hootsuite auto-publish Instagram Reels and Stories?

Yes. Hootsuite says it auto-publishes Instagram feed posts, Reels and Stories, either directly or via a mobile notification depending on the content type and your account. You need an Instagram Business account. Carousels can hold up to 20 photos.

Which Hootsuite plan includes approval workflows?

Advanced and Enterprise. Post approval workflows, internal comments and suspending scheduled posts are not on Standard or Professional. A two-person team on Advanced pays 2 × $399 × 12 = $9,576 a year on annual billing. Separately, Hootsuite’s plan FAQ says some features are only available with multiple user seats, without naming them.

What is Hootsuite Wisdom?

Wisdom is Hootsuite’s AI agent; the vendor says Yeti and OwlyGPT have evolved into it. It works with Lumen and Perch now, with Nest and Parliament labelled Coming Soon. It drafts and recommends but does not publish content on its own. Standard, Professional and Advanced each include 100 AI credits a month.

How many social accounts can I connect?

Up to 10 on Standard. The plan comparison table gives Professional, Advanced and Enterprise unlimited social accounts, although the analytics page FAQ names only Advanced and Enterprise for unlimited accounts.

What security certifications does Hootsuite list?

Its Trust Center lists SOC 2 Type II audits, ISO 27001, 27017, 27018 and 27701, FedRAMP authorization (listed as FedRAMP Li-SaaS) and UK Cyber Essentials, and its compliance list also names CCPA, CSA STAR 1, GDPR, PCI, SOC 3, TX-RAMP and VPAT. Single sign-on is Enterprise-only.
