What is Devin?
Cognition positions Devin as the AI software engineer, the exact line that headlines the homepage. Devin takes an engineering task end to end: planning and executing complex engineering tasks, running unit and E2E tests, doing visual QA with full browser and desktop use, and shipping pull requests that pick up review feedback and CI results until each one is approved and merged.
Cognition is clear about the audience: Devin is built for engineering teams with complex, multi-repo projects. It learns your codebase, picks up tribal knowledge scoped to specific repos, and can spin up a team of Devins for one large job.
Where Devin plugs into engineering workflows
Devin works where your team already works. You can ask it to investigate Datadog incidents, route Slack bug reports, and pick up Linear tickets, or skip the chat entirely and drive everything through the Devin API and Devin Automations. The pricing page's integrations row lists Slack and Teams, Linear and Jira, GitHub, GitLab and Bitbucket, plus custom git provider support, under a homepage claim that Devin is able to work with hundreds of tools.
