Optery is a US data-broker removal service founded in 2020 and backed by Y Combinator, with SOC 2 Type II certification and BBB accreditation. The Free Basic tier is unusual for the category: it produces a personalised exposure report with screenshots, scans Google and Bing results, and gives you view links and self-service opt-out tools, but does no removals for you.
Paid tiers add automated monthly scans and removals across a broker network that grows with the plan. Core is fully automated with no human involved and covers one name and one location. Extended and Ultimate use a humans-plus-machines approach with an assigned Privacy Agent, send removal reports with before and after screenshots roughly every 90 days, and can blur your home on Google and Apple Maps. Ultimate alone adds unlimited custom removal requests and outdated-content submissions to the major search engines.
What it costs in practice
Yearly billing is the standing discount: Core is $39, Extended $149 and Ultimate $249 a year, against $3.99, $14.99 and $24.99 per month if paid monthly. A site-wide SUMMER2026 code offers 20% off at checkout, and only one code can be applied per account, which matters because family coverage works through discount codes rather than a shared plan. Every person needs their own account.
The published broker counts assume Expanded Reach is switched on; without it Core covers 150+ sites rather than 380+. Optery’s own help centre says the Core plan does not match the quality of Extended and Ultimate, and that custom removals on Ultimate begin 30 days after purchase, fail about a quarter of the time and can be resubmitted once every 12 months. The 30-day money-back guarantee always applies, but cancelling part-way through a billing period brings no pro-rated refund.
