NordLayer is the business-facing security platform from Nord Security, the same group behind NordVPN, and it bundles encrypted remote access with Zero Trust access controls under a single subscription. The homepage pitch is a toggle-ready platform for securing your network and staying compliant.
Underneath, NordLayer splits into modules an admin switches on as needed. The current lineup covers Business VPN, Access Control and Zero Trust, Threat Prevention, Threat Intelligence, Password Management, Device Protection, Advanced Device Security, and a newly added Enterprise Browser. The vendor reports that more than 15,000 businesses use the platform, and the site describes the design philosophy as a modular approach to cybersecurity rather than one monolithic product.
Network access without the hardware
NordLayer organizes connectivity around three use cases it names directly: internet access security, private access security, and network connectors. Teams that only need safe browsing on untrusted Wi-Fi can route traffic through Shared Gateways spanning more than 40 global locations. Teams protecting internal systems move up to Virtual Private Gateways, where a Dedicated IP gives the organization an address it can allowlist on cloud consoles, databases, and SaaS admin panels. NordLayer fits small and mid-sized companies that need credible network security without a dedicated security engineer on staff. Distributed teams, agencies handling client data, and firms working toward SOC 2 or HIPAA readiness will get the most out of Core or Premium, where allowlisting and device posture rules genuinely change the risk picture rather than just encrypting traffic. MSPs are well served too, thanks to the Service Management Portal.
It is a weaker match for large enterprises already committed to a full SASE stack from a dedicated network vendor, and the five-user minimum makes it an awkward purchase for solo operators or two-person shops. Anyone who simply wants consumer privacy on a personal device should look at NordVPN instead.
