What is Botpress?
Botpress is a platform for building AI agents, aimed squarely at customer support. Its homepage frames the product as AI-native rather than a legacy helpdesk with a chatbot bolted on, and the claimed differentiator is action: the site names refunds, account updates and multi-step workflows as things its agents complete end to end. The vendor reports 750,000 AI agents built on the platform.
Studio and Desk are two products among several — Botpress Viber and the ADK sit alongside them on identical plans and conversation counts — and the pricing page lists Studio and Desk as entitlements of a single shared workspace. Botpress Studio is the builder where you design agent logic and connect data; Botpress Desk is a helpdesk that runs standalone or sits on top of an existing Zendesk or Intercom setup through OAuth. That layering lets you adopt the AI without a migration and consolidate later.

Botpress Studio is a visual development environment. Botpress suits support organizations whose hard tickets need judgment and data pulled from several systems at once, and teams expecting headcount to outgrow their software budget will like conversation-based pricing. A little engineering capacity goes a long way, because Studio custom actions and API access are where the depth lives. It is less ideal for a small team that wants a simple FAQ deflection widget and nothing more. Teams with heavily customized ticketing should pilot Botpress connected to their existing Zendesk or Intercom before consolidating onto Desk.
